Congratulations to the cameraman/woman. That was a great deal of courage on their part. No offense to Veronica, who also deserves congratulations for…..having the courage to go out into the world everyday looking the way she does. Just kidding, you’re not so bad.

very cool. I love to fly and have always wanted to learn how. I did have some school as a aircraft mechanic. I would have had to learn to fly at some point. Found I could make more money at other things so I never finished. it looks like fun. you go!

  6. Todd Says:

Great video Veronica! Wow, I was surprised to hear them say the average cost of the PPL is $12,000. I earned mine three years ago for under $5,000. But, I can imagine it is more expensive in L.A. than the Midwest.

I totally agree with the recommendation to fly twice per week, which will keep costs down. When looking to book an introductory flight or to find flight schools be sure to visit BeAPilot.com. I took several intro flights with a variety of flight schools to find the right one for me. Those intro flights are great because you can log the time and evaluate the instructors, planes, airport and flight school.

Really cool episode! Not only did we learn a lot about flying, but I think we learned a bit about overcoming our fears as well.

Until next time, “Ello, Govna!” :D

I love that Veronica’s idea of speaking English is a cockney accent.

cause Lord knows, that what the requirement should be.

  27. FAA test Says:

    Cool, That’s pretty simple.Here’s the summary :

    Step 1
Be at least 17. Read, speak and understand English. English is the language used by control towers and airports all over the world.

    Step 2
Check with local, general aviation airports for information about flight schools in your area.

    Step 3
Enroll in a licensed flight school. Typically, it costs $3,000 to $4,000 for ground school and flight training.

    Step 4
Obtain a medical certificate from a qualified doctor of aviation medicine before beginning the course. The flight school can usually recommend a doctor in your area.

    Step 5
Complete a three to five-week ground school course.

    Step 6
Take the written FAA test at the end of the course work. The test consists of 100 multiple-choice questions and can be taken at FAA testing centers or with other licensed test providers.

    Step 7
Complete 30 to 40 hours of actual flight time with an instructor. The school will provide the plane.

    Step 8
Complete your “solo” – a flight without an instructor on board.

    Step 9
Complete your final exam, called a “check ride.” An FAA-certified examiner will ask questions and accompany you on a flight in order to assess your abilities.

    Step 10
Receive your private pilot’s license with a visual flight rating. This allows you to pilot a single-engine aircraft day or night in weather with good visibility.
