Jeep Maintenance for the Spring

Jeep Maintenance for the Spring

Winter can wreak havoc on any vehicle, even your Jeep. It is best to be prepared when the time finally does come for you to start off on the muddy dirt roads with your spectacular vehicle. Let us not delay any further, here is a list of the things you will need to get done on your Jeep to make sure that it runs as smoothly and impeccably as you would want it to.

We will start with where your Jeep meets the road (or dirt track) – the tires. Firstly, you will need to check the tread, if the tread is not sufficient then it might be time for new tires. However, if there is still life in them, just make sure that they are properly inflated and that the alignment is as it should be.

Check your Jeep’s battery. If the battery is older than, let us say, five years, you will need to find an auto mechanic to check if it is safe for you to be driving with the aforementioned battery. The cold weather during the winter is not good for the battery so you will need to test it or have it tested in all cases. It is also a very good idea to check and see if the battery is properly mounted.

Change both the oil and the filter. Neglecting the oil and filter may result in dire consequences, such as costly repair needed to be done. You should consult your owner’s manual and change them accordingly. Never forget that this prolongs the lifespan of your engine, and improves its overall performance.

Top off, or change altogether, the rest of the fluids inside of your Jeep. That includes the following: brake fluid, windshield wiper fluid, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and coolant. There is a possibility that some of the systems might need to be flushed depending on when you had this done for the last time.

Last but not least, change the windshield wiper blades because the odds are that they need to be changed after the harsh conditions of the winter (snow, ice, frost). I cannot stress enough how important this is, especially if you are going to drive off-road and you are going to need perfect visibility.

Enjoy your Jeep throughout the spring, and take proper care of it by providing it with good service at a trusted auto repair shop.
