How to maintain your BMW the best way possible

The fine German engineering has created one of the best cars there is - BMW, and as a BMW owner surely you want to maintain properly the vehicle you have purchased. Here are a few things you would want to do to ensure a long life for your car.

One of the good things about being a BMW owner is that your car tells you that it is time for it to be serviced or repaired (when it comes to the newer models). What I am referring to by that, of course, is the SII system along with the CBS system. The SII, or Service Internal Indicator, reminds you of upcoming service dated or the likely due dates for its next servicing or maintenance, it also gives you a long time to plan for them as it indicates the need a few weeks in advance. The CBS - Condition Based Servicing system- tracks the individual components of the vehicle, and it can let you know when and if a part is wearing out or breaking down.

Here comes the ' but' - the systems although extremely helpful are still just systems that indicate an existing problem, and you should take care of your car before there is an actual problem.

Most people avoid bringing their cars to auto shops because it is tedious, time-consuming and it costs money, but what you need to understand is that this is necessary in order to avoid much much bigger bills later on in time when your car does break down or needs to be replaced altogether because it is broken beyond repair. To make sure that your BMW serves you well, make sure to do the following things:

- change the oil roughly every 7,500 miles: although your BMW will instruct you to change the oil every 15,000 miles or so, don't wait so long, because if you get your oil changed more frequently you can increase the lifespan of the internal parts of the engine

-check the status of your tires monthly: the computer system of the vehicle will monitor air pressure but it will not be able to recognize the uneven wear that will tell you your car needs an alignment

- check engine rubber hoses and gaskets: why not take advantage of the fact that you are having your tires checked and also ask the auto shop to examine the inside of your car, those components need to be checked for cracks or faulty seals that can lead to worse performance of the vehicle and potentially a breakdown

The fact is that as a BMW owner you have purchased the best, then why not make sure it stays the best?
