The first season of an innovative new TV gameshow called Wipeout airs on ABC on June 24th. We took a trip to their elaborate studio to meet the show’s executive producer, Matt Kunitz, the casting director, and the stunt coordinator. We also got a chance to see the storm simulator in full effect, and you will too if you watch this episode!

    COOL! Well done.

  2. Ed Says:

    Great episode!

  3. MOE Says:

Excellent interview…..can’t wait to see the television show.

  4. DP Says:

Is this the American spin-off of Ninja Warrior? That Japanese show is really addictive (I once sat in front of TV watching Ninja Warrior marathon all freaking day long), and I hope “Wipe Out” captures the same elements of humor and excitement…

  5. Gabe the Babe Says:

Wow! This looks exciting and challenging. Can’t wait to see the show. Lon and Leah took a chance just by being there. Good job.

  6. james Says:

good episode on lon’s end. Leah…what happened to your interviewing skills?? Not holding up after you won the competition huh?

  7. ujon Says:

I’ve been looking foward in watching that show. Thanks for the insight guys.

  8. ujon Says:

    Sorry forward

  9. TW Moore Says:

My thoughts ran the same way as DP’s. This looks like an American version of Ninja Warrior. Hopefully it will be as much fun to watch.

    On another note:

There is something about both Lon and Leah being in the same episode that just doesn’t work for me. I guess I like having the same person for consistency sake. Probably just me.

Anyhow, the new MD is MUCH better than the old MD. There is a lot more energy.

  10. Jason Says:

this was a really GREAT episode. I think this is really what the Mahalo Daily should be every day: informative, insider, helpful, and entertaining. I’ve been watching promos for WIPEOUT for a month and this really got me a great overview of the show and how it’s made. I learned a lot about the different people who put the show on, the control room, and the concept behind the show.

The goal of Mahalo.com is to help people research and find what they are looking for. The goal for Mahalo Daily should be in line with that, but of course since it’s “a show” it should be entertaining and fun as well. I think this show was a great balance.

Of course, the fact that you guys didn’t get to run the course was disappointing. I mean, really… I would expect one of you to just jump down the slide or something!!! :-)

    Great job.

What do you guys think the show should be?

Do you like the comedy shows? the informative stuff? A balance between the two?

This is a very new concept, having a show for a web brand (DIGGnation being the only other example i can think of). Feedback is always welcome!

Note: I think we should do a “Fast Facts” run down during the show since every Mahalo.com page has fast facts. Would be a great product timein yes/no?

    best jason

  11. Fierbaum Says:

Wipeout looks like a Vegas version of MXC. I guess what’s old is new again.

  12. Gracie Says:

FUN! I was hoping to see Leah push Lon down the slide though.

@james…Leah is informative, energetic, and fun. Maybe your holding a grudge??? Oh well, that’s your opinion and the majority of people here love watching both Leah and Lon.

@jason…I personally love the balance between comedy and informative episodes. Today’s episode was great and I cannot wait to see Wipeout. It’s great that at any time the viewer can give their opinion as to what they would like to see. As far as the “Fast Facts” I say go for it!!!

  13. GMD Says:

I personally thought that this was one of Leah’s better interviews. She seemed as she was having fun, very comfortable and full of energy. I might add that Leah and Lon are great together. They really compliment each other. Keep it up.

  14. rich Says:

Wow. Leah, those jeans were extremely tight. Looked absolutely fantastic.

This was a really fun episode. Leah seemed to have a lot of fun.

Lon could have been better as comic relief. Perhaps some physical stunts. A missed opportunity.

Continued “well done” to Mahalo for choosing Leah as the new host. Outstanding choice.

  15. Jura Says:

So ABC has decided to take the concept from “Escape from Takeshi Castle” (MXC in the U.S.), and redo it for American audiences.

Jeez, the least they could do is acknowledge that they got this idea from Japan; rather than pass it off as something original.

  16. Jason Says:

Now that Leah is on the show, I’ll be a regular watcher. Great stuff — I love watching her at work. Keep it going — a combination of information and comedy is definitely the way to go for the show.

  17. Skyvan Says:

I want to go to Fractureland!

  18. jpdeleon Says:

    Nice show guys !!

  19. Frank Says:

I was thinking how funny it was going to be when Lon jumped down the slide at the end! But . . . No! I guess Leah could have done it to but it would have been LOL with Lon. Still a great job by Leah and Lon, they work so well together.

Jason, as far as future shows they need to funny and informative. I want to be informed about things that may help me in my “Daily” life. I’m not real interested in only west coast things or places. I live in the Midwest. I want to be informed but more importantly entertained about things we all do everyday. I do like the stuff that has been done already. The new iPhone was great. People on the street are funny especially when talking to a quick witted Leah or Lon. The Friday episodes about YouTube are great as well.

Keep doing what your doing. Leah and Lon make the show fun to watch.

  20. Todd Says:

Hey James, wake up and get over it! Leah is a clear winner and multi-talented. You haven’t seen anything yet! There is no need for negative comments. Grow up.

  21. Ted Says:

    I’ve been looking forward to . . .
