please do not hire andrea! she is horribly boring!
Leah is the best by far, Kristina would be interesting, but i can imagine her flaking out after a month or so and being a groupie for trent reznor for a tour….
May 28th, 2008 at 6:47 am
Great episode, I can’t wait to see what happens and I just have to let this out, Andrea seems sort of vindictive…I’m hoping it is going to be Leah and Cristina in the final round, can’t wait for tomorrow!
May 28th, 2008 at 7:07 am
Andrea Rene, Leah D’Emilio and Kristina Allison are the three still in the mix.
At this point no one is in the mix that I want to watch so that is the end of that silly show. Also they ignored everyones votes and likely picked all of this before it every went on-line.
If the vote system didn’t work well they could have done another vote system. I think asking people for input and then ignoring the input is not something I want to watch.
May 28th, 2008 at 7:16 am
Interesting spin on where they took this episode.
I think it is clear that Leah D’Emilio is the best of the group. She has all the bases covered, looks, skills and her onscreen personality.
I thought Andrea Rene was much too full of herself and thinks much too highly of her skills… cocky would be an understatement.
Kristina Allison seems like a long shot but I think it would been interesting to have her and Leah in the final round and she how she does.
May 28th, 2008 at 7:45 am
I agree to D fuller. From the episodes, those three girls were my favorites.
Leah for the professionalism (and the pretties eyes of the trio, heh x])
Andrea for her charisma (on screen, i also believe she is a bit too confident - it kills the part of being the competition being challenging)
And Kristina for her personality (the little of which we could see).
Also I loved the Mapprentice thing, very cool to see a podcast this well produced. The crew at mahalo must be amazing. Congratulations to you guys !
I actually don’t mind if the voting wasn’t considered, since it could be easily cheated.
And again… Can we have more than one ? please ? :]
May 28th, 2008 at 7:46 am
Kristina. She’s got that honest charm which I find incredibly watchable and I agree with her when she says that she can see herself growing into the job of hosting quite easily. I’ve been a little on the fence up to this point, but now I’m hoping that Kristina gets through.
May 28th, 2008 at 7:52 am
Wow you just don’t see this sort of thing anymore. A social community web site that ignores the requested comments form the social community. It would be like just picking who they want.
They started off as a rip off of the Bachelor, then moved to a rip off of American Idol and now the Apprentice. Man they must be paying a fortune in licensing or exposing themselves to legal problems.
Oh and as for saying people who don’t show up don’t get the job. If it was a real interview for a real paying job, but not some work for free so I can put you in another round. This is more beg for a job that likely pays next to nothing. In other contest you have a prize of some value to win.
I think the two that didn’t show up made the best choice.

Mahalo Sarah!
It was wonderful to see you on the vlogs and online.
Thanks also to Mahalo for picking her out of so many
and showcasing her in this forum.
I am very glad to have been introduced to her and
can now follow her career elsewhere.
She is easy to follow - she is out there on the web - everywhere!
You did a great job Sarah - you will have a great career.
I am sure that many many others are going to be following
your career with great interest.
Mahalo again to all! And GO SARAH!
We have not seen the last of you on vlogs thank goodness!
Perhaps Mahalo will be interviewing you in the future
to talk about your great adventure on the World Wide Web!
A story worth waiting for.
:-)
The rest of you all did a great job too.
A tip for those not selected,
keep some connection or contact point on the web
so you can be found again.
I think folks will be seeking you out to work for them
on other projects now that you have been finalists
at Mahalo!
Don’t ever give up!
It will all work out, you will see!

I believe that by choosing Leah she would undoubtedly bring up the level of the show. She has the talent, education, likability, experience, and friendliness that will cause the viewers to come back for more.
Kristina is also very likable but needs more experience. The show will pretty much have to carry her throughout. I would love to see her get some training and come back next year.
Andrea Rene, although she has the talent, she seems to be trying too hard to be friendly and it comes off as fake. I feel that when she goes home she has negative things to say about the other contestants and maybe even the show. I also feel that she believes that she has already won and owns the show and down the road will get bored with the job if offered to her which will show in her hosting.
Overall, Leah would be the wise choice. She will bring in new viewers and will even win over the viewers that choose other hosts at this time. If MD does not choose her someone else quickly will and that would then be MD’s loss.
One more thing. Leah’s glasses do not seem to be working for her. They bring in the glare and hide her face which can be distracting.
May 28th, 2008 at 8:26 am
My two cents. I would have actually liked to see something like this before I was asked to vote. Let’s face it, when one is in front of the camera with the power to edit they come across the way we want to see them and like them. But in a setting such as this I believe we start seeing the real person. I actually voted for Andrea. She seemed to be a fun person on camera and I thought she did a good job but after seeing her now I would have voted for Kristina because I like her meekness/humbleness and complete honesty that she raw but willing to learn. She honestly seems like a very nice person to be around and very reluctant to speak out and say anything negative about her competition. On the other hand Andrea was very bold about others and came across as being overconfident and brash. I wish I had voted for Kristina and not Andrea. I like seeing the REAL person. Not some fake in front of the camera person. I would like to hear interviews with the crew and staff as to how it was to work on site with these ladies. Were they easy to work with? And Leah, I like her. Don’t really have anything to say about her. She’s good but there is just something about her that’s not grabbing me. Oh well, I guess I still vote Lon Harris!
May 28th, 2008 at 9:17 am
Leah D’Emilio
My Choice for host for tech savy but also new and different things. with only a little more practice her and the crew will work well together both in front and behind the camera.
Good work all

WOW!! ok that was interesting… tomorrow I am recording a podcast about Mahalo VLOG Idol… stayed to : http://unofficialmahalopodcast.com/ or http://mahalo.connectedgeek.net/
May 28th, 2008 at 11:06 am
Hi friend!
I liked your site!
Good work! ;)
May 28th, 2008 at 11:22 am
Very well done episode. Lots of suspense. Big supporter of Kristina. Had my fingers crossed the entire time.
May 28th, 2008 at 11:28 am
You guys really f’ed up. You got rid of the two best options - Sarah and Michelle. Andrea is outright horrible for hosting. She is annoying and catty, Leah is boring and slightly angry. And Michelle is just not cut out for hosting Mahalo period. Her vibe is all wrong and she cannot move her neck.
May 28th, 2008 at 12:04 pm
Wow… Sarah was the best choice. Bummer she was let go so quickly… bad move Mahalo!
Goodness, on another note… this whole process has been kinda annoying and is starting to wear thin with me. Pick the winner and let’s move on already! :-)
Anyway… it’s sad that these guys (the powers that be) based their decision on ONE very brief episode and not consider a person as a whole package. Speaking for me… I felt Sarah was the most most normal, likable person out of the whole bunch. For all things noted so many times in many different comments prior to today’s posting… she had the whole package.
AND, I don’t think Sarah’s episode was all that bad…
Sheesh… did Veronica HIT a HOME run every single episode?????
Goodness… to judge these wonderful women on one episode is so short-sighted! Hence the reason this process is SOOOOO flawed in my view.
Rocketboom didn’t mess around when Amanda moved on… they got Joanne Colan and they moved on! Did everyone like Joanne immediately??? Nope… but, she has become a great host for Rocketboom!
Pick the winner already… let’s move on!
May 28th, 2008 at 12:07 pm
If Leah D’Emilio is not picked, I will be canceling my subscription to Mahalo Daily. I must agree with comments above for Kristina. I found her show almost unwatchable. If this was more of a “groupie” podcast it might be a better fit. She will not be in this for the long term. I also do not think she has the mental capacity to handle the wide range of subjects. Andrea just bored the hell out of me.
I actually liked Sarah. Yes, she made some mistakes, but she was good.
May 28th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
Andrea FTW! You know why? She has the talent, experience, and know-how to get the job done. That’s what Mahalo needs, someone like her. Sure, no one can truly replace Veronica, but with Andrea, it’s a start. I honestly think her “How to Shoot a Gun” episode was actually quite entertaining, although the episode could have been a bit more informative towards the safety of fire arms, but besides that, very good.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:47 pm
I agree with most of the comments above, stating that Leah is the most professional choice and Kristina the experimental but also promising one.
On the other hand I dislike Andrea in every aspect. She is just a fake from bottom to the top, and also cocky in a very negative way. Finally I think she is just annoying with her childish (high-school like) attitude.
I doubt I would continue to watch the show if Andrea where chosen.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:15 pm
Eh, ignore the naysayers. This was a fun process. I’ve looked forward to each show; I’m looking forward to the next one. I’d vote Leah over Andrea because I thought her episode was most “Mahalo” (though Andrea with the shotgun saying “Mahalo” was a classic Mahalo moment). Kristina’s too wooden, and I’m not convinced that she’ll get over that.
I’ll watch whoever wins–and think it’s kind of silly to blackmail the judges by threatening to stop watching if their horse doesn’t win (you wanna talk high school? That’s high school).
Oh, and Dave: they were all paid for this episode. Calicanis may be many things, but he’s not cheap.
Go Leah!
May 28th, 2008 at 2:18 pm
Rats… I meant they were paid for *their* episode, not *this* episode.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:19 pm
:O Noo.. You can’t cut it there. I can’t wait to watch the next episode :O
None of these three girls would make me stop watching Mahalo. Good voting.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
what happen to the option of downloading a episode. ?
May 28th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
WOW! Watching the judging episode is more exciting than viewing the Kentucky Derby. With what I know and have read about Leah she deserves the honor of receiving the GARLAND. GOOD LUCK, LEAH.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
Ouch…for Michelle. She went so far, and showed her genuine ability as well as her interest in the position. I know she was committed…what happened?! What don’t we know? Can she bring a doctor’s note?!
Also, I don’t think it was tasteful of Leah, perhaps Michelle’s only competition, to be the one to push for Michelle’s disqualification. Very self serving behavior, not professional Leah!
Jason, you missed a star host in Michelle. Couldn’t you have given her the benefit of the doubt, and of her hard work, aside from today’s podcast?? Did you dig deep enough to understand??
Michelle, you have a great future ahead of you. The business is tough and plagued with bad calls…maybe Digg has a spot for you?! Best of luck M.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
I have though some more about it, and I have come to a conclusion, if Andrea Rene is picked I’ll stop watching Mahalo Daily. The more I think about it the bitchier and more vindictive she seems. She is just totally not cut out for this, I think Michelle would’ve been the better choice to leave in the round of three, but I see that Andrea Rene got votes, maybe some people love people who are mean and totally fake. I for one hope that Leah or Kristina gets it, I think Leah would definitely make the show more professional but with Kristina I would watch just because there may be something unexpected each day, and also it would be fun to follow her as she continues to progress, plus, let us all remember that this is in the internet, and the internet is the world of opportunity and how great would it be if someone with no hosting experience were to become the host of one of the top video blogs on the net, that would be a great story. Anyway as long as it isn’t Andrea I’m happy.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:42 pm
insider info
May 28th, 2008 at 3:54 pm
Leah to me is just polished. I heard the one judge say she might be too good. Isn’t that what this competition is all about, to find the very best? Doesn’t mahalo deserve that?
May 28th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Don’t you think it would be so much better to see a Kristina take on the new role and grow into this incredible internet host, rather than cold, over-professional and at times boring Leah?
I think Kristina would turn into a incredible host personality. She’s shown that she’s fearless, ready to take on anything and have some fun, and when that “timidness” is taken away, her potential shines through….This is NOT tv, it’s internet video, and I don’t think Leah could “take” this show anywhere, really. It would stagnate and become boring. Great, well-produced and professionally-presented boring videos.
Andrea’s just too full of herself.
May 28th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
Just wanted to add, and I know it’s not good to compare anyone to Veronica, but Veronica had (has, I mean!) personality, interesting sides and cooks to her.
She’s fun to watch, and I think Leah is boring as heck compared to Veronica, and compared to Kristina. I’ve read some Leah fans say they didn’t like Veronica much anyway. I’m sorry, but probably 99% of people love Veronica, she really made Mahalo Daily what it has become.
And Kristina is not like a fresh Veronica 2.0, she’ll grow into completely different and exciting directions, if given this opportunity! She’s got her cool rock chick side to her, for one!
May 28th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
I have read with much interest the many comments left by all the reviewers . I have not read that Leah’s or any other of the other contestants “fans” , have said they did not like Veronica. On the contrary, If Veronica is mentioned, it is only that everyone does like her. Get your facts right! Whoever is chosen will have a tough job at first because she will be compared to Veronica. But in time, whoever is chosen, will make Mahalo Daily their own. Before you comment, get the facts straight!
May 28th, 2008 at 6:04 pm
I’m getting tired of how slowly this is moving. It was neat watching the girls try out and host their own episodes, but now the process itself has become mind numbingly slow and frustrating to watch. I can’t imagine what the girls themselves are going through trying to keep up with this glacial pace.
Also, I really hope the final two are Leah and Kristina. It was a stupid enough move canning Sarah, hopefully you’re not making another by keeping Andrea.
May 28th, 2008 at 6:40 pm
gosh darn it, Sarah was awesome. Thanks for the video insight above, and for the accessibility! Luckily she can be found elsewhere.
May 28th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
Well I liked Michelle, but not showing up was bad form. Thank goodness Nadine is gone. Sarah was cool but unfortunately the obvious first elimination. I have to say I really liked her honest praise of Leah’s episode. Sarah has to work on her skills a bit, but I really like her enthusiasm and sincerity. Her activity on the comments says a lot too – she’s a fan like us.
Andrea has to leave next. She is so abrasive, arrogant, and loud. There is no way I’ll watch Mahalo again if she is selected. She’d be a great fit for E!, but I don’t watch that either.
I think Kristina is interesting and has great potential. I’d like to see her in the next round. If Michelle was there though, I think Kristina would be gone. Kristina like Michelle has a realness about her that draws you in. That said her episode was really bad and she has a huge learning curve to be ready to prime time. I think she could do it if Mahalo wants to groom her, but it isn’t going to come easy.
Leah is still far and away the best. I think some of the hesitation from others about her comes from her being almost too polished. Being that good on internet video can come off insincere. I don’t suspect she is insincere, but is just really skilled. I’d like to see a bit more personality in the next round and even more signs that she desperately wants this job. The flip side of being that good is you have to wonder how long she’ll stick around. CNET and others keep snatching up the great vblog hosts. I’d like to know what Leah benefits from this job vs. a TV journalism job. I would watch Leah religiously if she’s selected and stays, but I think she has to win over some of the folks that liked Sarah and Michelle. I’d guess revealing a little more of herself would do that.
I agree the votes should be largely ignored. It was obvious from the numbers and frequency that there was severe multiple voting. I’d say an email address confirmed vote in the final round would be superior with some statement about how flawed the previous voting was. This has been fun however. Good luck in the future Michelle and Sarah.
May 28th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Andrea hosting style’s at their episode intro reminds me The Mickey Mouse Club. Her voice is too high and too bitchy for Mahalo, sorry.
I think Michelle deserves another chance against Leah, who has been the best so far. A hint for both of you in the event of a final Leah-Michelle face-off :
Michelle: Try to approach several people to get different points of view of the subject. That’s what Leah did.
Leah: Try to be a little more easy going, without losing your authenticity. I don’t know how to put it in words but that’s Michelle’s best feature: she seems to be very reachable. I’m not saying that you aren’t, but I think that people will be very open to her even with a mic on her hand and a camera behind her.
Good luck
May 28th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Please don’t hire Andrea Rene…I’m gonna honestly have to stop watching if you do. She annoys me and I get way too much of her type here in VA.
I really like the other two girls. Leah is my first pic because she is what I think you’re looking for. Kristina would be great too because she has that indie chick thing going for her. You’d need to contractually ensure she keeps her highlight on the side there….awesome look.
Sorry to see @wood go.
May 28th, 2008 at 10:39 pm
Mahalo needs a team player who knows the value of cooperation. Leah was the only one of the contestants who bothered to recognize the contributions and to thank the behind the scenes crew. In fact, Kristina actually espoused the polar opposite philosophy, and explained how she preferred to rely on doing things herself. There is a huge deep canyon between the maturity levels of Leah and Kristina. Tough climb for Kristina to catch up with Leah.
As for Andrea, she would be a great fit for the cheerleader channel. That perky attitude and the annoying intonation in her voice are tough to take seriously.
May 28th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Finally got the chance to watch this episode. Seriously, I’m just ready to see who won. It’s not anticipation at this point, it’s annoyance.
Having that off my chest, I have to say that I warmed up to Kristina a bit in this episode. She really does seem sweet and honest.
Andrea has become a joke to me, frankly. She’s catty and has something to say about everything (and everyone). I don’t like that, period. Even if that didn’t come across in an episode she hosted, it would still be in the back of my mind. She’s not likable to me in any way.
Leah remains my favorite. She didn’t bad mouth anyone in this episode (very professional), her episode was great and she carries herself well in general.
May 28th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
I think Leah is the best one. Hope you keep her.
May 29th, 2008 at 1:27 am
This is an exciting way to choose a new host.
I am not a fan of the apprentice/idol/bachelor television programs. The Mahalo Daily version has been sublimely absurd.
This is an edge of your seat competition. Thank you to Greg for pointing out the fact that the contestants were paid for their episodes.
Good luck to the contestants that were cut from the competition.
I am rooting for Leah, with guest hosting appearances from Kristina.

Wow, I’m surprised that people find Andrea arrogant. I actually liked her, but I can see supporting Kristina as an underdog because she just kind of got shafted on her topic with a less than interesting interviewee. It should definitely be Leah vs one of them.
Oh, and I agree with Joe: YouTube sucks for me, I can’t seek through episodes and the quality isn’t as good. What’s up with the downloading option? This is why I like Vimeo better than YouTube even though their UI is not set up at all for easily browsing videos.
May 29th, 2008 at 12:03 pm
I’m not surprised!
May 29th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
I completely agree that Sarah isn’t right for the hosting position.
That being said, I think that it’s a shame that the selection process is such a competition now, because I think Sarah would make an OUTSTANDING producer for the show. But I think that it would be difficult to work alongside the hosting winner for Sarah.
May 30th, 2008 at 10:51 am
Sarah has a lot of skills, but I didn’t feel much of a spark (if that makes sense). I still would have liked to see her tackle another topic. I have a feeling we haven’t seen the last of some of these contestants.
May 31st, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Oh Michelle - why didn’t you show up for Mapprentice…would have loved to see you in the mix with the finalists.
Hope you land on your feet somewhere else on a daily vidcast in the immediate future
