  1. motorchang Says:

Loved Andrea’s interview. It was so straight forward. I can feel the in-your-face kind of energy and vibe which I think is great for Mahalo.

  2. Prashant Sehgal Says:

After being slightly disappointed with all 3 interviews in the previous episode (I did like Leah a little, but not as much as her previous works), I was glad to see Andrea Rene’s interview today - looks like she’s going to be THE One! While nobody can truly replace Veronica, she does have a style of her own! Let’s see what Nadine does next.

  3. BabyYoshi2k Says:

I absolutely loved these two interviews, they felt so much more honest and cool than the other three. That said, I do think Andrea Rene’s interview stands out above the rest. I love her attitude, and her commitment to do things in a fun, exciting, and entertaining way.

  4. D Fuller Says:

I feel like Andrea is yelling at the interviewer. Very stiff for a informal interview. Her voice alone would make me drop my vlog subscription. Her diction is horrible… slurs her words and blends words together. No matter what she says… I don’t think she’s “fun to watch” (her words)…

Still see Leah as first place.

  5. Wonder Says:

Yesterday we had three, today we have two interviews?
Why is one missing? Is that so tomorrow they announce her as the winner?

  6. Wonder Says:

If this was a real interview Leah gave me the answers she did. I would say how fake.

    Q:What is your dream job?
    A: THIS ONE!

C’mon one hopes Leah has bigger dreams then that.

Q: What is your favorite web site…
    A: THIS ONE!

It was all trying to hard for me and not real at all.

Leah supporters need to open there eyes… It is all to fake for me.

  7. DaddyO Says:

Both Andrea and Michelle had stronger videos then the previous days contestants. Andrea had a little bit of the “you know” problem and Michelle used “uh” to often. These are speech pattern ticks that can be over come with some practice and I’m sure who ever gets the job will end up doing OK. I do hope the all the contestants take this as constructive criticism because that is the way it is intended. Someone mentioned last week that Andrea reminded them of Natali Del Conte at Cnet and I have to agree. She is a little more hyper then Natali but I think part of that is nerves besides getting compared to Natali isn’t a bad thing. I really like Nadine so I’m looking forward to her video but Andrea is the strongest so far.

To paraphrase Jon Stewart on the Democratic primary season. This is becoming “the long, flat, seemingly endless Bataan death march” to find a mew Mahalo Daily host. Mahalo can you please wrap this up?

  8. Paul Says:

Nice candidates, but both are too canned for me. With time, either would make good on-air personalities, but for now they lack the spark which would make a lot of folks watch the show. Both need some BASIC training in articulation and delivery. There really is no excuse for “like”, “you know” and “um” in broadcasting.

  9. Christian Donner Says:

Well I did not like the two interviews because they were not really professional. When an interviewer cannot give a professional interview he or she should not interview other people.
    I stille like Leah best

  10. Larry M Says:

I thought there were 6 ladies?? Why 3 yesterday and 2 today?? Did Nadine win or quit? She did get the most votes on the Zoho Polls. hmmm. Anyway, both ladies (today) did very well in their interviews. I hope to see this contest end with a bang!! :) Stay tuned :)

  11. John Says:

Michelle has left me with a great impression of herself. This last interview demonstrates and rounds out the depth, maturity, and reflection she has. It so compliments the excitiement and professionalism she showed us earlier.

With Michelle being my top pick at this point, I would like to recognize all the finalists for the time and energy they are putting into this. I think they should get paid for this if it goes on much longer.

  12. Daniel Perry Says:

Andrea Rene really shined in her interview. Her energy is dynamite. She needs some practice interviewing but has a real talent to project her energy to and through the camera.

  13. Jura Says:

Bonus points to Andrea for wanting to be a videogame tester.

More bonus points to Michelle, though, for being a Diggnation fan. :)

  14. Joey Says:

I still like Leah the best. Andrea’s interview was good, however her voice comes across like nails on a chalkboard and her diction and pronunciation are poor…all the qualities that are essential for a host.

Leah comes across so sincere and honest…there’s nothing fake about her.
Andrea’s perkiness is put on, and obvious.

    Leah still has it.

  15. chrissy Says:

Andrea - good energy, but annoying as shit.
Michelle - I thought her show with the go-cart was great. I really like everything about her, but I’m not sure if she could stay interesting for long.

What is missing from all five girls is that they are NOT FUNNY. A host has to have a certain slight comedic sensibility. It is a hosts greatest tool and none of them have it. Unfortunately, cute and coquettish will never and should never substitute for it.

Either bring back a dark horse or give the winner a short contract and hire someone better in six months.

  16. Franz Says:

I have to second what a couple others have said… Andrea’s voice, diction, and attitude are like fingernails on the chalkboard. Michelle’s interview was good and I like her more after seeing her interview. I still prefer Leah, but I’d watch Michelle. I won’t watch Andrea.

  17. Sesame Says:

What more is there to say about Leah that hasn’t been said.
She is a GEM-well-polished with many facets emitting such brilliance and clarity that as the new host of Mahalo Daily she would make it shine! Treasure this Gem.

  18. chrissy Says:

You need a host that is able to have an unspoken dialog with their audience in the way they communicate through the camera…creating something similar to an inside joke that the subjects of the shows are never in on. Can you think of a great host that doesn’t do this? They have to make the show and the audience theirs. Even Lon knows how to do this.

  19. Jared Christensen Says:

    I hope Andrea Rene wins!

  20. The Opinionator Says:

    Leah: Fake
    Michelle: Fun
    Nadine: Amateur
    Kristina: Boring
    Andrea: Perky
    Sarah: Creepy

  21. John Upton Says:

They all are enjoy performing, are photogenic, enjoyed making their segment, and believe that they should be chosen. But Leah’s got the intelligence and the skill to do the job right now. Even her interests — music, travel, and even wikipedia — show that she is interested in what’s going on around her which is good for we Mahalo viewers.

  22. Brian Says:

No offense to the other contestants but Andrea Rene is so much better than them. She is the best choice in my book. It is just her personalty and she is super positive all the time.

  23. Marcelo Toyama Says:

I felt Michelle was the most sincere interviewee so far, seemed to be very brave and willing for challenges. I liked her interview a lot.

As for Andrea, i still don’t know whether i like her attitude or not. I felt she was a bit too loud, but that might derive from her confidence. She sort of reminded me of the way Brooker Burke hosts the E! shows.

Lon, can we have more than one host ? x]

  24. Cynthia Says:

All the contestants do seem to be lovely human beings. I do see differences in maturity, ability to speak, and breadth of experience they bring to the hosting competition. Michelle remains my pick because she continues to offer a consistently high standard to each of the important components required to carry mahalodaily and its viewers into the future. Beauty, brains, maturity and spirit to stay ahead of the trends she will explore, and in touch with the diverse audience she will entertain. Great work all of you, but especially Michelle!

  25. victor Says:

Michelle is, hands down, the most qualified for the job. why? simply because, just like veronica, she KNOWS HER STUFF !!! It’s a world difference when someone can actually express her opinions with knowledge. I really feel that after being chosen as the host of Mahalo Daily, Michelle will clearly blossom in this area. Her prior works already show her interest in Tech and … come on, already a Web designer !!! Why go for perky n dummy if you can go with geeky n pretty !!! Go, Mich, Go !!

  26. Ryan Says:

I think Andrea Rene is by far my favorite of these six finalists. I think she is very hot, feminine, and has the open personality to do shows that everyone will like. Whether someone is for or against everyone owning a gun, she made an episode about shooting a gun, informative and entertaining. I hope she wins, so I can look forward to seeing her hosing one of my favorite podcasts for the next year.

  27. ..lj Says:

    Todays interviews were very strong.

Andrea has a bit of a problem with “You Know”, but not as bad as Kristina’s yesterday. I think she comes off as more young than professional.

Michelle’s interview came off much better than her show. She seems to have good background for the position.

Bottom line. I think that Leah is the Woman I could watch daily doing different stories. Michelle came off as #2 in the interview, but was 4th of 5th in the show.

  28. jpdeleon Says:

I stay with Leah !!! Andrea is great but she seems like a fake personality, I don’t mean it bad, but she is like a PopQueen, not a Tech Diva…

    It’s only Nadine lef and I don’t think she is better than Leah…, I guess we’ll see…

  29. Byron Smart Says:

    Michelle is the one

  30. Red Says:

    Quite saucy.

  31. Valz Says:

    Good luck Sarah!

  32. Valz Says:

(Sarah is still my top choice.)

Just from this page I would rank them as:
    1. Michelle Hummel
    2. Andrea Rene

    Why Michelle first? She is:
    More articulate
    Knowledgeable about the web
Spends time learning & keeping up with technology - needed for a host
Has early theatre background - this makes her performance more polished
Spends a lot of time communicating or outdoors - not in passive mode watching TV everyday so is a more hands-on practical person with experiences to share
Mature: knows herself - “my career path is definitely hosting”
More versatile - talk about technology, to men & women & children,
Willing to try new activities for the show to show people what Mahalo daily is made up
And to help the public - she is there to help - her commitment to doing the show
Expressed 100 to 130 percent commitment for the job and loves what she does

    Concerns about Andrea:
Committed to having fun - and bringing a lighter side to everything but
not enough emphasis is then left on learning
EXAMPLE: she talked about gun safety but pointed the gun at people by mistake
This makes me think that she may make a poor representative of Mahalo
with serious or controversial topics where teaching/learning is key for success
She watches at least 5 or 6 hours of reality TV a night but what if the job
requires a lot of updating skills, learning new things, on location shoots, rehearsals? (Michelle is committed to 130% but is Andrea too addicted to TV?)
Andrea may be too tired from her television watching schedule to give Mahalo her all even if she does put in the extra hours needed and the job may suffer.
Did she watch TV a lot before the gun interview and not have time to research in advance how a gun should be handled? Is her priority really her job first or is it her TV watching and then any time left over is for the job? Her work quality may not meet Mahalo’s standards in that case.

    Positives about Andrea:
I could see Andrea maybe being great for a Saturday night Mahalo nightly
Fun topics could be reality tv show reviews, game reviews for newbies, family outing destinations etc.
Andrea may be good for a younger audience if there is Mahalo Daily school tour
to give entertainment/a career talks for vblog broadcasting etc. depending on which
age group she would be best interest

HOWEVER, I liked that BOTH Andrea and Michelle:
smiled, were friendly and showed enthusiasm in their own ways
    had many favourite websites
had complementary clothing styles/colors that made them look professional
talked openly and spoke easily on camera

    Great job! and good luck!

  34. Phil Kelley Says:

I was most impressed with Michelle’s production, so I am not surprised she gave the best interview. She is the only person who said she was into truly tech things: she designs web sites, she uses applications, she goes to tech web sites, etc. She was also the only person who really connected with Mahalo’s mission: to help people. You don’t have a bad candidate in the set; they are all excellent people and would be fun to watch on the daily show. Still, my vote goes strongly to Michelle.

  35. Orange County Videographer Says:

Valz, you hit the nail on the head. Michelle is more articulate. Andrea has a real mumbling problem and it can get annoying. I don’t want to be picking on Andrea so much but Michelle was just stronger on camera. Why didn’t she show up!?!

I have to say one thing though, Points off Michelle for not being as involved with these message boards as the other contestants. If she has posted feedback, I certainly haven’t seen it.

  36. Orange County Videographer Says:

One more comment about Andrea’s dream job… Video Game Tester? Um, have you ever HEARD of Quality Assurance??? I worked QA at Electronic Arts for a year and no, it was not a lucky job to have. In fact, they’ll take just about anybody because it’s a boring long-shifted minimum-wage no-respect type of gig. Seriously, the dev teams hates you because you find their mistakes and make their job harder.

    If Andrea really wants to be a video game tester as she claims, then she better be prepared to play the same level/mission/boss over… and over… and over…. and over… and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over…

Until she ends up having nightmares like the stoner in ‘Elm Street 6′.

  37. Orange County Videographer Says:

I also find it funny that Andrea wants to be a video game tester so bad, and yet her long list of media freak hobbies did not include gaming. I call BS.
