MD050 – Star Trek: The Tour

Tempting though it may be to litter this blurb with Star Trek catchphrases (”we boldly went to the Star Trek Tour” or “We beamed down to Long Beach this past week…”), we think the geeky awesomeness of being in the presence of such amazing and authentic Trek memorabilia will be enough to get you through this episode without them. In case you were wondering, no, there were no Shatner sightings at this tour. Maybe he heard that crazy lady from the art show was going to be there.

Digg!

  2. Phil Plait Says:

I don’t remember Drama Prairie Dog in *any* of the Trek incarnations.

But did you pick up a uniform while you were there? I think John Dvorak is waiting for you to wear it when you return as a guest on Cranky Geeks.

    Best. Episode. Ever.

  6. Kaliko Says:

That was great, Veronica. I do wish you had spent a little longer showing what was actually there, however: the cuts and transitions from one prop or stage element to another were so fast, you could hardly get a grasp on what things looked like.

Anyway, I’m not here to grumble, but mainly to say how you’re doing such a great job with Mahalo Daily, and thanks go to Jason as well.

Thanks for this Veronica. And that Shatner SNL moment is SO funny. Legendary. “Look at yourselves…!!”

The Tour in Long Beach was a superb exhibit and if you missed going, you really did miss out. San Francisco is next on the list and from there The Tour will be traveling to Minnesota, Illinois and Michigan. If you are a seasoned Trekkie or just a casual fan, there’s something there for everyone. The original bridge and The Next Generation bridge are quite to spec. You CAN and should have your photo taken in the command chairs. Priceless indeed. There’s everything you’d want in an all inclusive “traveling museum” – props, costumes, models, movie clips, tributes to those who created this universe, some great special effects, and memories you’ll cherish for a lifetime. Go. It’s worth it. Make sure you say “hi” to Dave Riva, Producer of The Tour and Creative Director for SEE Touring Productions Inc. He’s one great guy and the team he works with did an excellent job in Long Beach.
