MD015 - How to Tie a Tie
We’ve seen enough “business casual” pass through this office to know one thing: not enough guys know how to tie their ties properly (or if they do, they only know the first knot they ever learned). Well, we can’t accept this lazy and sloppy behavior any more! It’s time for some fashion boot camp. Now drop and give me twenty!

Very cute and funny Veronica. Whole time I wanted to grab your arms and kiss you. How one of the four guys didn’t do that is amazing. hehe.
I tie a half-windsor. And length is always perfect. Use a tab-collar too, cuffs on pants, low-vamp shoes…would dress to the nines for ya. Keep up the good work.

I had to get up at the crack of dawn this morning (4 am) for a flight and decided to make one last check on iTunes for podcast updates. I was intrigued when a video of how to tie a tie was downloaded and I hit the play button.
Thank you for this video! Because my parents were divorced when I was ten I had to discover how to do many “guy things” on my own, including how to tie a tie. I knew my method was not quite right but it looked acceptable and in twenty years I never bothered to check with someone else.
I know, I know… Twenty freaking years is a long time! But back when I wore a tie on a regular basis the World Wide Web was unknown and since that time I am in biz casual attire 98% of the year. I’ve thought about Googling the subject but by the time I actually sit down in front a computer the thought was gone from my mind.
So thank you again for this video. Now I can show my boys how it’s done…

Hate to pick nits with the awesome Veronica, but I think she describes the half-windsor knot correctly, but the video shows her tying a four-in-hand knot.

Never heard of the Pratt! Sweet deal. I’m gonna go give it a twirl… or a tie? i d/k. It’s neato-looking. I’ve never actually tied a tie either. I’m in the same boat as Johnny with the ‘rents thing. danke.

V great article. I would not give up the Mahalo gg to become a drill instructor for the US Armed Forces, althogh the attempt resulted in you affecting a rather fetching Southern US accent.

Will the team upload a mp4 format for the show to blip.tv at some point please? It’d be really great to see the video and audio in sync on my mobile device, as it really is such a great show! I need to go create a Feedburner.com and zamzar.com mashup!

Hey… not sure if this was supposed to be serious or not, but… when you said Half-Windsor you showed a four-in-hand, and when you said four-in-hand you put an extra loop in it that shouldn’t be there… That one came out looking pretty good though, the rest looked really sloppy…
