MD014 – How to Play Guitar for Newbies
After months of playing Guitar Hero (II and III), we assumed that graduating to an actual guitar wouldn’t be too difficult, right? Unfortunately, it’s harder than video games make it look. While learning the chords and basics isn’t too difficult for even the least musically inclined of students, creating a decent sounding song can take years. But hey… that’s why we call it “For Newbies!”

Well done, Veronica! The only reason your D chord sounded off was because you’re not supposed to hit the open E and A strings.

That was an awesome video! So nice to see someone who doesn’t really play doing a little bit of the demo. I think that will encourage confidence in people and make them to want to learn. And the whole thing was produced so well. Really liked it! All the best, Ray

Learning guitar, guitar hero or anything else takes time, but the results are usually rewarding. I like to teach soloing without having students practice scales and modes, or cheesy songs. I think these useless and boring exercises turn off a lot of guitarists.

Great video! I agree that learning how to play the guitar may seem easy but when it comes to composition and making it sound right, only long hours of practice can make it perfect!
